The film has completed one week of run-time in theatres and is now marching towards Rs 150 crore at the domestic box office. Early estimates of the film have arrived and it suggests that PS 2 witnessed a slight drop as it now marches ahead in its box office collection.

Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 released in theatres on April 28 in multiple languages. The film had a pan-India release just like its prequel amid massive expectations. The film is faring well when compared to the current films running in theatres.
The Mani Ratnam directorial put up decent numbers at the box office despite seeing a drop again on Thursday, May 4. As per trade reports, the film earned Rs 6.60 crore (nett) in India on Day 7. This took the seven-day total collection to Rs 128.60 crore in India. And now, Day 8 early estimates suggest that the film earned Rs 5.50 crore as it kickstarted its second week. The total collection now stands at Rs 134.50 crore

Ponniyin Selvan 2 took a bumper opening at the box office and collected Rs. 80.50 crore in its first weekend, and on its fourth day, the movie entered the 100 crore club, taking the four-day total to Rs. 103.75 crore. It showed a major drop on Tuesday, and on Wednesday and Thursday, the collection came to single digits.
It seems like Ponniyin Selvan 2 has a long way to go to catch up with its predecessor. In its first week, PS1 had collected an impressive Rs. 175.60 crore, while PS2 is lagging behind. The lifetime collection of PS1 was even more impressive at Rs. 266.54 crore, and it appears that PS2 may not surpass that. Currently, it is estimated that the lifetime collection of PS2 will be around Rs. 150-170 crore.

In its second week, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan collected Rs. 15.9 crore, bringing its total to Rs. 106.05 crore, which is considered disappointing. Meanwhile, PS 2 is expected to reach a lifetime collection of around Rs. 150-170 cro
Visionary director Shankar Shanmugham is all praises for the period action drama Ponniyin Selvan 2, directed by legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam. Shankar took to his Twitter to express his views about PS 2. The Game Changer director wrote that PS 2 is meticulously crafted by Maestro Mani Ratnam.
Shankar found the scene between Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Chiyaan Vikram to be scintillating and added that they made history. “AR Rahman’s music was truly marvelous while Ravi Varman’s frames were alluring,” wrote Shankar.
On the professional front, apart from Game Changer, Shankar is also directing Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, both of which will release in 2024. On the other hand, Mani Ratnam is all set to direct the 234th film of Kamal, which he himself produces. After a very long time, Mani Ratnam is associating with the Universal Hero.
